# Acceptable use policy

What may not be sent or done through Fax for Agents. This policy is part of the terms of service.

## Do not send

- Unsolicited advertising. In the United States the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Junk Fax Prevention Act forbid unsolicited advertisements by fax, and similar rules exist elsewhere. Send to people who asked for it or with whom you have the relationship the law requires.
- Protected health information. Fax for Agents is not a HIPAA service, signs no business associate agreement and must not be used to transmit PHI.
- Content that is unlawful where it is sent from or received: threats, fraud, harassment, material that infringes someone's rights.
- Faxes to sanctioned or high-risk destinations. These are refused by the service and listed on the coverage page. Screening a recipient against a sanctions list is your responsibility.
- Anything that impersonates another sender. The sender number on a job is one of yours or the pool, and the cover page says who sent it.

## Do not do

- Try to read, guess or reach another organization's data. Every foreign id answers 404 and the attempt is logged.
- Share an API key outside your organization or publish one.
- Circumvent a rate limit, a budget, a policy or an approval, or help an agent do so.
- Use the sandbox to load-test the service. It is for rehearsing outcomes, not for volume.
- Resell the service as your own without an agreement with us.

## What we do about it

A send that breaks a rule the server can check is refused before any money is held. For the rest, we may pause a route, revoke a key or suspend an organization, with notice where the law allows. Unspent balance is refunded. We cooperate with lawful requests from authorities and we tell you when we can.

## Reporting

If you received a fax through us that you believe breaks this policy, write to hello@faxforagents.com with the sender number and the time. Do not send us the document unless we ask.
